John B. Stradford

Stradford moved to Tulsa around 1899 and developed numerous rental properties and businesses. In June 1918, he opened the Stradford Hotel at 301 N. Greenwood—a luxury 55-room hotel that became the largest Black-owned and Black-operated hotel in the US. By 1920, he was widely considered the wealthiest Black man in Tulsa.
